Careers Curriculum and Useful Websites
Here at Woolston College,  careers and work skills are very much woven into the curriculum. All of our vocational courses develop work skills alongside independent living skills and functional application of Maths and English.

Students further develop their work skills in the Duke of Edinburgh program,  in activities such as garden renovation, fundraising for local charities, community projects and grounds maintenance. In Years 12-14, all students complete weekly careers work to fine tune their employability skills across all 4 pathways.
In addition to this, students follow the Skills Builder Accelerator Programme, which focusses on 8 essential skills. These are:
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Problem Solving
  • Creativity
  • Staying Positive
  • Aiming High
  • Leadership
  • Team Work
Each skill is broken into sixteen steps across four main stages. Based on student's current skill level, we can start at any of these stages or choose a specific step to focus on. In July 2024, Woolston College successfully achieved the Silver Award from the Skills Builder Accelerator Programme!
